‘to be possessed’’ is a physical and sonic performance that exposes aspects of a heterogeneous DIY archive of “possessed” women from different contexts. Through a deconstructed stage ritual, Kotsali attempts to animate each of the documents she encounters, calling upon them to reveal their shattering and subversive nature. ‘to be possessed’ unfolds a genealogy of bodies that testify to the impossibility of a perfect solitude, revealing that discourse and writing, deed and conscience, the immaterial and material world are haunted by pre-existing voices as well as those yet to be born.
