Together with 15 other international cultural networks, in 2023 Aerowaves started its eco-certification journey under the guidance of SHIFT Culture. Aerowaves has received the SHIFT Eco-Certification for the the third year running.

Through the SHIFT eco-certification process, Aerowaves has implemented shared guidelines, taken part in peer audits, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Aerowaves concrete steps towards climate include:

Making more considered travel choices
Reducing waste and unsustainable procurement
Proposing vegetarian options at Spring Forward
Running a « green fund » for partners to encourage sustainable touring

Webinar Series: Responsible Digital Practices in the Cultural Sector

Together with Versopolis and EDN, Aerowaves leads on the Responsible Digital Practices initiative, a series of four annual webinars on the impact of digital tools on our practices. Curated by independent environmentalist David Irle, each webinar combines concrete tips with collective reflection, moving step by step from the most practical to the most systemic, co-creating a shared check-list of sustainable digital practices.

SHIFT Eco-Certification

European cultural networks are continuing to step up for the climate. For the third year running, 17 networks have achieved the SHIFT Culture Eco-Certificate, showing what’s possible when sustainability becomes a shared commitment.

Created by and for cultural networks, the SHIFT Culture eco-guidelines support organisations to make meaningful changes in how they work: from travel and events to governance, operations and everyday decision-making. Certification combines self-reflection, peer learning, and external audits by sustainability experts at Vector42, keeping the process practical, transparent, and grounded in real working conditions.

Networks come together in a peer-learning workshop in autumn to share experiences, tackle common challenges and help shape the updated guidelines that come into effect from the following year.
