Biography

Solène Weinachter’s artistic practice is rooted in the intersection between dance, theatre, story telling, laughter and (what could be perceived as) uncomfortable conversations.

Solène trained in the regional conservatoire of Lyon and pursued her training at London Contemporary Dance School, where she obtained a BA(Hons) and an MA in contemporary dance and performance. Her interest as a performer deeply informs her choreographic work. It is rooted in the connection with the audience and how that liveness specifically shapes every show. Movement in relation to her physical and narrative voice have been in the centre of her work since 2013.

As a rehearsal director, a performer or a creative collaborator, Solène works with a wide range of dance and physical theatre companies in Europe including OD Works, Scottish Dance Theatre, Lost Dog, Joan Clevillé, Gecko and Vera Tussing. She is also a founding member of Collective Endeavours, a Glasgow-based intergenerational music & dance improvisation collective that performs in non-conventional spaces.
