Biography
Sidonie Duret, Jeremy Martinez and Emilie Szikora meet in 2009 at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse in Lyon (France). Alongside their studies they started to experience creating work with musicians and visual artists. In 2011 Collectif ÈS was born and its first production was P’Lay’s – a 25-minute piece for 3 dancers and a potato crisp eater.
After graduating in 2014 Sidonie, Jeremy and Emilie continued their collaboration with Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobie* a 50-minute piece for 3 performers. It was supported by the CCN in Rillieux-la-Pape and CDC Le Pacifique in Grenoble and won the French dance award “Reconnaissance”. Overgame premiered in January 2016, also that year Collective ÈS were invited by the CCN in Rillieux-La-Pape to create Dance Party, I wanna dance with somebody. The work Jean-Yves, Patrick & Corinne in 2017 began a collaboration with two new dancers, Alexander Standard and Adriano Coletta.
In 2017 they were invited by CND to become one of their Artists in Residence for 18 months. This programme enabled the collective to develop its Popular Series project revisiting popular practices and public gatherings. After the first episode of that series, Dance Party, I wanna dance with somebody, the second episode is Karaodance, which premiered in March at the Subsistances, Lyon. Members of the Collective ÈS are fellow artists of LUX, Scene Nationale de Valence (France) in 2018/19. In 2019 the Collective will present 1ère MONDIALE, three collective solos as part of the festival Le MOI de la danse at the Subsistances, Lyon and finalise the creation of the third episode of the Popular Series: LOTO.
