Biography
Lois Alexander (United States, 1991) is a dancer and choreographer based between Berlin and Amsterdam. Alexander graduated from The Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2014, and since then has worked with choreographers and directors: Stijn Celis, Christoph Winkler, Romeo Castellucci, Susanne Linke, and Zufit Simon.
Alexander’s approach embraces the intimacy of the personal and at the same time addresses the politics of her existence.
In 2018, Lois made her first solo, Fading Fire, which premiered in Dansmakers Amsterdam and then went on tour throughout the Netherlands with the Moving Futures Festival in 2019. Her second solo, Neptune began its process during the New Adventures Residency in Dansmakers Amsterdam in 2019 and premiered during Tanztage Berlin in 2020. Neptune is supported by Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst and is a co-production of Dansmakers Amsterdam and Sophiensäle Berlin.
