Biography

Kristin Ryg Helgebostad (b.1984) is a renowned dancer and choreographer from the Norwegian dance scene, who welcomes a wide range of different performative and choreographic strategies into her practice. She holds a BA in contemporary dance and an MA in choreography from Oslo’s National Academy of the Arts (KhiO), and works in several different constellations. Prominent works include SOIL GIRL by the trio Berstad/Helgebostad/Wigdel. The piece has toured extensively in Scandinavia and Europe, i.e. ImPulsTanz (Vienna), Aerowaves’ Spring Forward festival (Barcelona) and Nordwind Festival (Berlin). The trio premiered their second piece SPOILER at the Black Box Theatre in Oslo in 2017, which since then has toured i.e. MDT Stockholm, Rotterdamse Schouwburg and Oktoberdans/BIT Teatergarasjen and Cork.

Together with Ingeleiv Berstad, Kristin was commissioned to choreograph LOUDSPEAKERS//BIRTHMARK (2015) for the National Company of Contemporary Dance (Carte Blanche). In February 2019 they also premiered a new piece for Carte Blanche titled KNOW HOWS. Kristin was commissioned to choreograph THE REAL RAW (2019) for Corpus – the Royal Danish Company of Contemporary Dance and the band Baby In Vain, both at The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen and at the Roskilde Festival. Her body of work includes: WE COME IN PEACE, an alien dancical with Lauvdal/Johannesdottir/Theisen/Helgebostad/Floen (Dansens Hus 2019, touring RAS and Kilden), PHANTASMAGORIC with Berstad/Brun/Helgebostad (Dansens Hus 2016, touring MDT Stockholm and Oktoberdans in 2018), Zodiak Helsinki and Fest en Fest in London, LULLELI FOR FRUHOLMEN FYR with Norwegian Landscape Theatre (Ingøy 2016, nominated for the Norwegian Critics’ Prize) and THE LONG JOURNEY and SELF REFLECTION by Berstad/ Helgebostad/Seljeseth (Dansens Hus/ National Tour 2015-2017).

Laura Marie Rueslåtten (b.1984) is one of the very few professional carillonists in Norway, she studied at the Scandinavian School of Carillonists in Denmark for seven years. She is a carillonist in Oslo City Hall and Urianienborg Church, she has a duo THE TOUCHABLES with the guitar player Sven Lundestad, she plays in the hand bell quartet MARKUSKLOKKER and the hand bell/cover band ULAMETALL. Laura Marie
specialises in contemporary music and is frequently involved in cross over projects (i.e. the long term collaboration with Kristin Ryg Helgebostad, including ME TOO (2015) which was nominated for the Norwegian Critics’ Awards. She composed original music for the performance SIRKLING by Tori Wrånes, which has toured nationally and internationally. During the summer months Laura Marie performs weekly in the Oslo City Hall, where she
also programmes the repertoire. She also performs on special occasions such as State visits and the Nobel Prize Ceremony. Laura Marie is frequently performing as a soloist in Norway and Europe.
