Biography
Mélissa Guex (1993) is a dancer and choreographer based in Lausanne (CH). She grew up in a little village in Switzerland. She developed a taste for the stage while practising theatrical improvisation and decided to train in both dance and theatre. She first studied at the Lassaad School in Brussels –based in Lecoq pedagogy– and then joined La Manufacture in Lausanne, where she received a bachelor’s degree in dance in June 2019. After her studies, Mélissa became an associate artist of Théâtre Sévelin 36 and founded her company in Lausanne.
Currently, Mélissa presents her solo work as a choreographer and performer in different theatres in Switzerland. She also collaborates with choreographers and artists such as Augustin Rebetez, Géraldine Chollet, and Anna Marija Adomaityte in her piece Pas de Deux presented during the festival de la Bâtie and Aerowaves’ Spring Forward festival 2022. She keeps a strong connection with Brussels and she often dances with David Zambrano and takes workshops at his centre.
Mélissa juggles between the world of nightlife and theatre where she experiments with different forms of performance. She explores transformation through costume and uses the urban space as a playground. With her company, Mélissa Guex and her team have been developing a gritty work based on elaborate aesthetics, not devoid of darkness.
