Taking place at Dance Ireland from 4 until 8 November 2024, this will be the fourth edition of Artists Encounter, a programme addressed to dance makers interested in developing and/or expanding their connections with international artists and presenters.
The invited participants are:
- Nick Nikolaou
- Nóra Ní Anluain Fay
- Justine Doswell
- Subhashini Goda
- Yves Lorrhan Silva Santos
- Annique van Niekerk
- Lauren Mc Gonagle
- Meg Hennessy
- Zoë Ashe Browne
- Tara Brandel
- Michael McEvoy
- Aneta Dortová
Three former Aerowaves artists will present their work:
- Silvia Gribaudi with A corpo Libero (Aerowaves 2010)
- Eva Recacha with Because I Can (BIC) performed by Lauren Potter (Aerowaves 2023)
- Jean-Baptiste Baele with Nabinam (Aerowaves 2023)
The works have all been part of past Spring Forward Festivals and will be presented at Dance Ireland in studio versions and settings. These works all bring autobiographical elements and, in different ways, question societal attitudes to non conforming bodies on stage, offering a rich context for conversation and exchange both conceptually and compositionally.
Participants will attend shared physical practices led by the choreographers and Lauren Potter, and will continue with the analysis of the works, unveiling and exploring dramaturgical and compositional tools. The project brings additional expertise by involving renowned international dramaturg Monica Gillette and facilitators to help contextualise the works and connect to the practices of the participants.
Artists Encounter Dublin 2024 is made in collaboration with Dance Ireland, with the support of The Arts Council and the Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin.
