ZOOM endeavours to see things that we forget in the bustle of everyday life. Merging dance in an unexpected way with an exquisite lighting and sound design, ZOOM takes a fresh look at life from close up and far away. Taneli Törmä's arresting, monochrome solo stops time – to show us life from a different perspective.

Biography

Taneli Törmä is a Finnish artist based in Denmark, active in the fields of contemporary dance and film. He is a performer, a choreographer and the artistic director of his company, LOCATION X.

He was educated at the Finnish National Ballet School, and gained vocational qualifications in dance in Helsinki/Finland 2002-2005 and Compagnia Roberto Zappala Modem Studio atelier in Catania/Italy 2007-2008.

Taneli has worked around Europe with several companies including Svenska Teattern (FIN), Finnish National Opera and Ballet (FIN), Bora Bora – Visual Theater (DK), Mancopy (DK), Recoil (DK), Oldenburg Staatstheater (DE), Staatstheater Mainz (DE), Kobalt Works (BE), Random Collision (NL), Zodiak-Centre for New Dance (FIN), Söltumatu Tantsu Ühendus (EST).

In 2011-2012 he was the in-house choreographer for Theater Momentum Odense in Denmark, which has been his ‘home’ theatre since.

Aerowaves has selected LOCATION X works twice: Zoom in 2015 and Classical Beauty in 2017.

Taneli has created dance movies since 2010 in Denmark, Germany, Belgium, France, Canada, Finland, Greenland, Norway and Estonia. His EPILOGUE and JUMP dance movies have received International dance film prizes in 2015 & 2016.
