Biography

Joanna Holewa Chrona is a dancer, choreographer, project manager, and DJ based in Sweden and South Africa. Her dance practice is based on several movement traditions: from the technically demanding and political dance styles from popping in the USA to isiPantsula, Sabar, and Afro-Cuban dance from South Africa, Senegal, and Cuba. Over the past twelve years, Joanna has participated as a dancer in a number of larger and smaller productions, both nationally and internationally. Since 2020,  she has focused on her own stage performances and festivals, exchanges, and workshops. Joanna’s ambition and drive come from the honesty and freedom within improvisation as well as from music, connecting with people and art as a healing and revolutionary movement.
