Biography

Born in Portugal Catarina Miranda (1982), is an artist working with languages that intercept image, movement, voice, scenography and light; approaching the body as a vessel for the transformation and mediation of hypnagogic states (relating to the state immediately before falling asleep), as well as for gestures and processes of the visceral conscience of the present.

She completed an EXERCE master’s degree at ICI-CCN in Montpellier, (France), a degree in Visual Arts in Porto (Portugal) and studied NOH Theater at Kyoto Art Center, Japan.

Miranda has created Cabraqimera, Dream is the Dreamer, Mazezam, Boca Muralha and Reiposto Reimorto and presented work at the Pompidou Centre and Palais de Tokyo (Paris/ FR), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon/PT), Serralves Museum (Porto/PT), National Theatre (Porto/Pt), Festival Materiais Diversos (Pt), Festival DDD (Pt), Festival Pays de Danses (Liège/BE), Festival Mindelact (Santiago/CP), Festival Short Theatre (Rome/IT).

Miranda has presented the visual installation Poromechanics at the Pompidou Centre (Paris/ FR), Teatro Municipal Porto/ Maus Hábitos (Porto/PT), Festival Walk&Talk (Azores/Pt) and São Luiz Teatro Municipal (Lisboa/Pt).
