In our everyday lives we often dance on a knife-edge. Carl Knif's Red is an intimate portrait of an individual struggling with an inner red alert. Knif is an exceptional dancer and his singular movement quality is poetically combined with spoken word. Red is a performance about extremes – not always dramatic, but full of personal courage.

Biography

Choreographer and dancer Carl Knif graduated from the Theatre Academy in Helsinki in 2000 and has since then been at the forefront of Finnish dancers. He has been a dancer in Tero Saarinen Company since 2004. Since 2007, Knif has been focused on his own choreographic work. His piece, Hologram Walls (2010), was commissioned by the Helsinki Festival.

Other works include Manuscript (2012) for Kuopio Dance Festival, and Mothertongue (2013), created in collaboration with the Finnish National Ballet. 2014 Knif was given a three year artistic grant by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
