Meet the artists of the Artistic Exchange Ireland/Québec

10 September 2026

Six artists based in Ireland, selected through an open call with Dance Limerick, will join the Artistic Exchange Ireland/Québec, a project in collaboration with La Danse sur les Routes du Quebéc, and will work with choreographer Alexandre Morin and dramaturge Mathieu Leroux to adapt their acclaimed piece “Cutting Through the Noise” for site-specific spaces in Limerick.

This project is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, La Danse sur les Routes du Québec, CALQ and the Québec Government Office in London.

Creative process:

  • Online preparatory session: Irish-based dancers selected for the project will first meet Alexandre and Mathieu online in February/March 2027.
  • Creative residency: The full creative residency will take place at Dance Limerick from 30 March to 14 April 2027, with rehearsals running Monday to Saturday, approximately 10:00–17:00, with Sundays free. Over these two weeks, the group will explore the physical language of the piece, adapt it to the chosen site, and build a shared performance that reflects both the original work and the new constellation of artists.
  • Presentation: On 14 April 2027, the work will be shared with the public in Limerick, just before the opening of Aerowaves’ Spring Forward.

This project is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon, La Danse sur les Routes du Québec, CALQ and the Québec Government Office in London.
