Biography

Francesca Santamaria is an Italian artist based in Rome, active in the field of performing arts. Her research focuses on performative logic and its implication through an analysis of the moving body and its limits.

After training at Balletto di Roma, she danced with the CZD2 ensemble and as a freelancer collaborating with choreographers such as Moritz Ostrushnjak, Alexandra Pirici, Amos Ben-Tal, Roberto Zappalà, Manfredi Perego.

In 2022 she joined the three-year choreographic research programme Incubator for future choreographers (CIMD, Milan), while simultaneously obtaining her MA’s degree in “Writing and Production for Performing Arts and Media” at Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis on Dance Dramaturgy.

Her works COME SOPRAVVIVERE IN CASO DI DANNI PERMANENTI, GOOD VIBES ONLY (beta test) and GOOD VIBES ONLY (the great effort) have been presented in national and international contexts and festivals, including Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore, Operaestate Festival Veneto, Romaeuropa, Bolzano Danza, and MILANoLTRE.
