Can we control what’s out of sight? In A complementary set_Disappearing with an Impact, The Choi x Kang Project try to unravel how we respond to things that are unpredictable, exploring the camera as an instrument which captures and controls its subject.

The camera’s eye deconstructs the dancers’ movements whilst recomposing the choreography through its pan, zoom and focus. Despite the camera’s will to control and choreograph movement, its gaze cannot reach the inevitable ‘gap’, the off-screen action.

Playing with the gap between the two different media  –video and performance–, A complementary set_Disappearing with an Impact delves into spatial expansion and perception.
