Sanjoy Roy, United Kingdom

Sanjoy Roy has written on dance for the UK's Guardian newspaper since 2002. Formerly an editor and publications manager for Dance Books Ltd, he has also written for magazines including the New Statesman, Dance Gazette, Dancing Times and Pulse.

He has led a number of dance writing workshops, in the UK and in India, and has been a jury member for The Place Prize (London), Equilibrio (Rome) and PECDA (Chennai). He conceived and scripted the hugely popular animation series Planet Dance: A Visitor's Guide to Contemporary Dance, available on YouTube and commissioned by The Place, London, and maintains an online archive of published writing at www.sanjoyroy.net.
