Springback Production
13 October 2020A new initiative devising dance content & events across Europe
After years of testing and reinventing ways to bring the jam-packed action of Spring Forward festival to your screen, the knowledge from this experience paid off when the coronavirus struck. Aerowaves was able to organise Spring Forward – the show must go on-line at short notice in April when we could not travel to enjoy the festival in Rijeka as planned.
Since then freelance professionals and Aerowaves staff have collaborated with Springback Production directed by Enya Belak. Together with some of our partners’ organisations they have devised online interactive events disseminating the artists’ works and involving dance professionals and audiences across Europe and beyond in discussions and workshops.
Frameworks
Commissioned by Aerowaves and ten of our partners, Twenty20 FRAMEWORKS – digital as a Dance Partner on 25 June 2020 was a three hour event – streamed via Zoom. Eight of the Twenty20 Aerowaves artists presented live and recorded projects where they looked for ways to transform the digital medium into their dance partner, rather than as a way of showing their dance works or making dance for the camera.
B.Motion Digital
From 20-23 August, Springback Production joined forces with B.Motion Danza to bring online physical practices, live performances and Q&As, conversations and postcards from Bassano del Grappa, and dance on screen including the Twenty20 FRAMEWORKS pieces.
Trip the Light Fantastic TV
The team worked with TripSpace in London’s East End from 18-20 September to produce Trip the Light Fantastic TV. Three days of workshops, talks and interactive events culminated in an evening of dance on screen hosted from the UK and Chile by Giuliana Majo and José Vidal.
Café Plateaux
And last but not least, Springback Production along with La Briqueterie CDCN hosted and produced a virtual event of this year’s edition of Les Plateaux, their annual international festival. Café Plateaux held on 26 September 2020 combined artist interviews and a discussion with David Irle on the role of the cultural sector in tackling environmental issues and developing sustainable practices.
