Hessisches Staatsballett
In 2014 Staatstheater Darmstadt and Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden (who had cooperated since 1975), decided to take joint responsibility of a dance company and the Hessisches Staatsballett was founded in August that year. The ensemble of 28 dancers produce a variety of pieces every season, ranging from contemporary narrative ballet to experimental and abstract dance. The Hessisches Staatsballett also makes it their mission to invite a number of prestigious national and international guest productions each year, and invests in promising choreographers and their companies by providing residencies. Equally, an extended outreach and educational programme, and participatory dance projects for amateurs of all ages are an integral part of every season.
