May 20 2019
Launched in 2018, Aerowaves is proud to announce the second edition of Offspring, an audience development initiative that will enable emerging choreographers to create a dialogue and a collaboration with young people.
Throughout a series of bespoke residencies, artists will collaborate and test new ideas with young audiences, develop new methodologies on how to adapt choreographic work for your people and receive mentorship from the partners. The process will be fully documented and shared online to disseminate knowledge as widely as possible.
The Aerowaves partners leading and designing the Offspring initiative are Annantalo in Helsinki (FI) –leading the project–, Operaestate Festival Veneto in Bassano del Grappa (IT), Dansstationen in Malmö (SE), The Place in London (UK), Dervish&Co (NO), Arc for Dance in Athens (GR) and National Centre for Dance in Bucharest (ROU) together with the Aerowaves Team.
The partners have selected the following artists and works for 5 residencies that will take place this year:
‘HYPERSPACE’ by James Batchelor and collaborators (IT/DE). Kicking off at Dansstationen in Mälmo (Sweden) on 20 - 22 May, James will go on a series Offspring residencies and showings that also include Annatalo (Helsinki) on June 10-14, and Operaestate Festival Veneto in Bassano del Grappa on 16 -21 August.
'Scarabeo, Angles and the Void' by Andrea Costanzo Martini (IT) will be welcomed at Arc for Dance in Athens in September and ‘Des gestes blancs’ by Sylvian Bouillet and Lucien Reynes (NaïF Production) will visit The Place in London.
More information will be posted as the Offspring activities unfold, stay tuned!
