Biography
Robbie Synge and Lucy Boyes are based rurally in The Highlands, Scotland. Ensemble is their first work together but follows a period of five years of collaboration and research together with a small group of performers.
Robbie Synge studied physiology before working in dance. His practice involves exploring the physical possibilities in interactions of different bodies, surfaces and materials. Often working over relatively long periods of time, his research tends to be alone or with individuals and groups of people of different ages and abilities often considered ‘untrained’ or ‘other’ in dance or performance. Robbie is an associate artist with Dance Base (March 2017 – March 2019) and Dance North. He was selected by Aerowaves in 2016 for his work ‘Douglas‘.
Lucy Boyes trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and has performed with numerous choreographers and companies. Lucy has an established Pilates teaching practice and her choreographic interests have focused on work with people of all ages, predominantly the Ensemble company.
