Biography
Martin Hansen is a choreographer and a dancer. He graduated at the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin in 2014.
His work ‘If Its All In My Veins’ explores dance history through GIF’s was a finalist in the 2016 Kier Choreographic Awards. ‘If Its All In My Veins’ was presented at Dancehouse Melbourne and Carriageworks Sydney. It will be developed into a full evening length piece and presented at Dance Massive Festival (Melbourne) 2017.
In collaboration with Ania Nowak, Martin was artist in residence at Dancehouse Melbourne 2014 and premiered ‘A Queer Kind of Evidence’ at Tanztage 2015. Martin’s solo Monumental mapped reconstructions of Anna Pavlova’s ‘The Dying Swan’ was presented at at Tanznacht, PACT Zollverein, Semper Oper Dresden and Ballhaus Ost. His latest work ‘Bastards’ was presented at Sophiensaele.
Martin has performed with Tino Sehgal, Alexandra Pirici, Sebastian Mathias, Christoph Winkler, Jeremy Wade, Sebastian Blasius, Ligia Lewis, Laurie Young and others.
In 2012 Martin was named ‘Dancer of the Year’ by Tanz Magazin. He was a danceweb scholar in 2013 and was the winner of the Origin Foundation Scholarship in 2014. In 2015 Martin received the Einstiegs Forderrung from the Berliner Senate and Art Start funding from the Australia Council.
