Biography
Botis Seva is a dance artist that works within the space of hip hop and theatre and the artistic director of hip hop theatre company Far From The Norm. Botis’ work portfolio crosses theatre performances, outdoor spectacles and immersive experiences.
Far From The Norm have performed nationally and internationally at festivals such as Sadler’s Wells Breakin’ Convention, Austria’s Hip Hop Goes Theatre, Festival HOP in Spain and San Francisco’s International Hip Hop Dance Fest. They have presented work in theatres and venues across the UK including Birmingham, Weymouth, Wales, Nottingham and London.
In 2015, Botis was nominated by Breakin’ Convention and awarded the Bonnie Bird Choreography Fund, Marion North Mentoring Award. Which led him to curate his own Wildcard night ‘InNoForm’ at the Lilian Baylis, Sadler’s Wells, presenting works such as ‘Rek’ and an international collaboration with British Council Tunisia. ‘InNoForm’ then went on to be presented at the British Dance Edition in Wales and the Laban Theatre.
2016 saw Botis present work at the two largest European choreographic competitions: Choreography 30 in Hannover, Germany and Copenhagen’s International Choreographic Competition, winning the 1st place in both cases.. Far From The Norm were also commissioned by Without Walls, Greenwich Docklands International Festival and Salisbury Festival to develop and tour ‘H.O.H’ on the outdoor festival circuit.
Botis has been commissioned to create new work ‘Tutumucky’ on Scottish Dance Theatre as part of a double bill premiering in February 2017 in Dundee.
