Biography
Bauke Lievens
Bauke Lievens works as a dramaturge for circus, theatre and dance (Cie. Un loup pour l’homme, Kaori Ito/les ballets C de la B, Tibaldus en andere hoeren). She studied Performance Studies at the University of Ghent and Philosophy of Contemporary Arts at the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona. She is currently working on a four year research project on the methods for artistic research used in the creation of contemporary circus. She has published various articles on the topic of contemporary circus in CircusMagazine, Rekto:Verso and Courant. Bauke teaches Dramaturgy and Written Research at the Drama Department of KASK, School of Arts (Ghent, Belgium).
Alexander Vantournhout
Alexander studied at Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque (ESAC) in Brussels, where he specialised in single wheel and in 2010 he enrolled at P.A.R.T.S (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios), the Brussels-based school of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Alexander has created Caprices; a choreographed circus solo, dedicated to the music of Salvatore Sciarrino; Don’t run away, John, a performance with Niko Hafkenscheid (musician with Meg Stuart), and has improvised with Harald Austbo (Heimat, Skagen). ANECKXANDER was selected as the laureate of Circus Next 2014 and won the 2015 KBC Young Theatre and Public prize at Theater aan zee (TAZ), Oostende (BE).
