The Kalamata International Dance Festival is the main event of the International Dance Centre, founded in the spring of 1995 to support, promote and present contemporary dance. The Festival's purpose is to foster the art of dance through education, research, artistic activities and creativity.
During the twenty years of its existence the Festival has introduced and presented in Greece major dance artists who shaped the history of dance, acclaimed artists of today and young artists. It has supported numerous Greek artists by presenting their work in an international context, commissioning and co-producing works, as well as contributing and facilitating their presentation abroad.
