From June 13 to 18, 2017, the Berlin Performing Arts Festival invites dance and theater lovers and makers from around the world to celebrate Berlin’s independent performing arts!
The one-of-a-kind independent performing arts community of the German capital will show what it has to offer both at familiar performance venues as well as at locations unusual for theater. The artistic positions of Berlin-based artists and groups working in all genres of the performing arts will be presented in collaboration with numerous venues in an event that has made Berlin the hotspot of the independent performing arts for one week every year since 2016. In addition, newcomers to the community have the opportunity to present their work at the performance venues Ballhaus Ost, HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Sophiensæle and Theaterdicounter within the framework of a curated Newcomer’s Platform.
The schedule of programming will be supplemented by ancillary programming as well as special formats and events for German and international professionals.
With over 120 performances at more than 50 performance venues, the Berlin Performing Arts Festival has been exciting the Berlin audience as well as theater lovers and industry professionals from throughout Germany and abroad since 2016. Over 70 presenters from 10 different countries attended the first edition in 2016, giving Berlin-based artists and initiatives the opportunity to present their work across Europe and the rest of the world.
